Lynese Play Therapy

Hi, I’m Lynese

I have spent my entire 25 year career working closely with children and families, in a variety of settings, including teaching at schools, running my own play school, writing parenting articles for Babygro magazine, providing individual learning support and facilitating EQ groups at schools, and at my practice.

The emotional wellness of children and the connected family were always a priority in my teaching career, and seeing the effects of trauma, as well as emotional and learning struggles in the classroom created a deep desire to be an agent of change.

I am the proud mother of an awesome 22 year old son, and the journey of parenting has been the catalyst and inspiration for my play therapy work, my personal development and my passion for supporting parents and families.

My background in writing, love for literature and belief that our lives are our stories, has created a particular interest in the power of story as a therapeutic tool, and I love to use this creatively in the playroom.

I qualified as a Play Therapy Practitioner (201802698), and a certified Play Therapist (2019) through the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy at Leeds Beckett University, I have completed well over 500 hours of practical work with a wide variety of children, working in a school settings, the Kids First Therapy centre and in my private practice.

My little playroom with the bright yellow door invites us into a safe space where we are all free to be our authentic selves.

I’m accredited, and a registered member of Play Therapy International, hold professional liability insurance and attend regular clinical supervision.
